The II International Festival of Muslim Cinema «Golden Minbar» was held in Kazan from the 10^th to the 15^th of September in 2006. The motto of the festival was «Tolerance and political correctness».

More than 80 films were applied for the II «Golden Minbar». Their level was much higher in compare of previous year. Competitive program included 34 movies: 13 feature films, 16 nonfiction films, 5 animation films. Non-competitive program included 28 movies. There were 62 movies from more than 20 countries: Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Great Britain, the USA, Syria, Turkey, CIS countries and regions of Russian Federation. At the first time there were represented films from Afghanistan, Algeria, Holland, India, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia.

180 journalists from 65 MSM were accredited to the festival. Among them there were 8 foreign MSM, 13 federal MSM and 44 republical MSM.

The demonstrations of competitive and non-competitive movies were held at the up-to-date film halls of the cinema «GRAND CINEMA» in the shopping center «Suvar-Plaza».
