IV Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema «Golden Minbar» was held in Kazan from the 16^th to the 22^nd of October in 2008.

More than 200 movies from 37 countries were applied to the IV «Golden Minbar». The competitive program included 35 films (10 – full-length films, 12 – short-length films, 13 – documentary films). Non-competitive program included 21 films.

Together with constant participants from Iran, Egypt, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Great Britain, Canada, the USA, France, India, Netherlands, Russian Federation, CIS countries, there were films from Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand.

The festival was covered by 186 journalists from 94 MSM, including TV-channels «Russia Today», «Euronews», state TV-channels of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, information agency «Islamonline», news agencies of Italy, New Zealand, India, Australia, the USA, Great Britain, international video agency of journalists «Tiva.tv», inter-Arabic newspaper «Ash-shark al-ausat», newspaper «Al Arabia», magazine «Al-mussavar». The representatives from this MSM prepared 638 materials: 350 publication in the Internet media, 176 publications in print media, 60 radio reports, 52 TV-items.

The demonstrations of competitive and non-competitive films were at the up-to-date film halls of cinema theatre «GRAND CINEMA» of shopping center «Suvar Plaza». Repeated demonstrations of the best movies were at the center of Russian cinematography – in the cinema «Mir» and at the entertainment complex «Korston».

Overall, more than 17 000 spectators attended festival events.
