He was born in 1945 in Kazan. He graduated from Kazan State University (1969).

Since 1971 he has been working on the Kazan newsreel studio. Since 1997 he has been the director of this organization (in 2006 Kazan newsreel studio was reorganized into the Joint stock company «Kazan Film Studio»).

He is a producer of the films: «Кuктаu», «Inzeen-raspberry», «Eagles», «Kamyr Batyr» and some others.

Mikhail Mikhailovich Mikhailov was awarded with the title of the Honored worker of culture of Tatarstan, an honorary filmmaker of the Russian Federation, got excellence in cinematography of the USSR.
