Odelsha Agishev served as a Chairman of the Moscow Guild of Cinematographers (1980 - 1990), the Secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of the USSR and Russia (1986 - 1994). Currently Odelsha Agishev is the Head of the scenario workshop at the Institute of Cinematography, professor.

Films Based on  Agishev’s scripts were  awarded at the Soviet  Union and international film festivals. The main ones are: «Tenderness» - festivals in Locarno, in Frankfurt-am-Main, in Pesaro, «Lovers» – the  festival in Grenoble, and Minsk, «Youth of a Genius» - festival in Damascus and Malmezene, «The last meeting» - the main prize at the Film Festival in Chisinau, «Love and Fury» - the festival in Pula (Yugoslavia).

Odelsha Agishev is the Honored Artist of the Uzbek SSR (1975), the Honored Artist of Russia, Laureate of the State Prize of the Uzbek SSR (1971), Award-bearer for Best Screenplay at the All-Union Film Festival (1976), winner of the USSR State Prize (1984), the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation (2001).
