Movies of Abdrashitov were awarded with professional awards at prestigious international film festivals in Berlin, Venice, Locarno, Moscow, including the awards for actor's work.

The film "Foxhunting" received a special award for “Best Acting” at the festival in San Remo (1982), "Stop the Train" was awarded the jury prize for best screenplay at the festival in San Remo (1984), "Parade of Planets" was awarded the top prize at international film festival in Avellino (1985) and a special prize of the festival in San Remo, "Plumbum or Dangerous Game" was the film awarded with the Golden medal at the International Film Festival of the Italian Republic in Venice (1987), "Servant" was awarded with the prize named after Alfred Bower for the development of film art  and Ecumenical Jury Prize at Berlin Film Festival (1989), Mindadze as the script writer and Oleg Borisov as the leading actor won Nicka-89 with this film, it was  awarded with  the cinema prize "Golden Eagle" (1994), "A play for the passenger" was awarded with the “Silver Bear” prize at the Berlin International Film Festival (1996), "Magnetic Storms" was marked by prizes Nicka (2003), "Golden Aries"(2003) at the festival "Kinoshock", "Golden Eagle" for Best Directing (2003).

Vadim Yusupovich Abdrashitov is the State Prize Laureate of the RSFSR (1984), the USSR State Prize Laureate (1991), People's Artist of Russia (1992), Laureate of Lenin Komsomol Prize of the President of Russia. He was awarded the Order of Merit of the IV degree (2006).
