Presentation of "Eurasian Film Market" project was held today at the Press Centre of VII Kazan International Muslim Cinema Festival. Strategic directions of cinema market’s activity are Europe, Asia and Latin America.
It was decided that “Eurasian Cinema Market” will take place within the frames of Kazan International Muslim Cinema Festival. According to organizers, the main factor influenced on this decision was a historical location of Kazan and the Republic of Tatarstan at intersection of all trade and cultural ways between the East and the West.
«Certain pictures of certain producers are dominated throughout the world. The representatives of various countries have one pain, namely, the development of the national cinematography and launching to the international market ", - stated in his opening word Vladimir Batrakov, director of “Tatarkino”. He regretfully stated the fact that a lot of good movies are not released in Tatarstan.
The purpose of the formed cinema market at Kazan film festival is to provide the greatest possible number of viewers with an opportunity to learn the culture of different countries, as well as to provide the Festival with a platform for global collaboration of producers and distributors of world film communities. According to the organizers of the presentation, the Eurasian Film Market is a real sensation.
«We will actively develop Eurasian Film Market next year to enable its working at full strength," - declared V. Batrakov.
The initiators of the project are State Film Fund of the Russian Federation, Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan and state-funded "Tatarkino."
Participants of the presentation noted that due to terrorist attacks the world has a biased attention to Islam today which is accompanied with inappropriate treatment of Islam ideas by multimedia.
Mohammad Reza Abbasian, producer of «Visual Media Institute» (Iran) noted that there are many common features in the history of Iranian and Russian nations, for example, cultural roots in Islam. "I am sure that Iranian films will be popular in Russia and vice versa. Unfortunately, we are all under pressure from Western culture, even in Iran there are companies which distribute Hollywood movies. It is necessary to create such kind of the market to eliminate all obstacles for screening our films, "- he said.
Alireza Shakrukhi, Director of the Festival Department of «Irib media trade» (Iran) said that they have managed to negotiate the sale of Iranian films in the regions of Russia owing to the Kazan Festival. He called «Tatarstan - New Century" Channel one of the opportunities to show Iranian films to wide audience.
"I am sure that there is no other way to save the nations and cultures, but to return to their roots. I hope that next year our role will not only be in the presence at the Festival, but also to bring the festival films to the people of our country. I hope that we can carry out these objectives next year, "- said Abbas Arnaout, General Director of« Aljazeera International Television Production Festival ».
According to Vasiliy Antipov, editor of "Muslims" programme (TV Channel "Russia"), Cinema Market has already started working at Kazan Film Festival. However, the majority of people do not notice it. "Here people meet, agree on joint work and cooperation," - he said. Antipov also mentioned that the Russians living in the biggest country in the world do not know what is happening in a neighboring region. In his words, Kazan will be the platform that will give such opportunities.
"Potentially the viewer wants it, he is interested in a variety of films. If "Tatarkino" displays a huge organizational force, if the cinema market will really work, people will come to the Festival not only to get the prizes but to get the recognition and the money, too", - said the representative of the Television Channel" Russia ".
Exhibition stands on programming and technical re-equipment of movie theatres will be set up within the Eurasian Cinema Market frames. First performances, demonstration of the new films’ advertisements, presentations, round tables, workshops and specialized seminars on topical issues of cinema industry are in the plans.
